 Summerfield The small, stylish and sophisticated community of Summerfield is located in the northeastern part of the Colorado Springs real estate area. The subdivision was built in 1992. Pine Creek is an elegant golfing neighborhood. Located to the east of the Summerfield community is the Gatehouse real estate subdivision. The Gatehouse real estate area offers two parks and is in close proximity to schools. One of the parks is a skateboard park. The Briargate YMCA is located in this subdivision. The original Briargate real estate area and Briargate subdivision is located to the south of the Summerfield community. The Chapel Hills Mall is located in the Briargate subdivision. The mall offers shopping, dining, and movies. The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) is located to the west of Summerfield across I-25. The USAFA is situated at the base of the mountains and has a visitor's center. The beautiful Cadet Chapel on base is a tourist attraction that is open to the public. Commuting The Summerfield subdivision is close to the United States Air Force Academy. It's a popular choice for Colorado Springs military relocations with several homes near the Air Force Academy and is an approximate 15 minute drive to the Air Force Base. If you're considering this neighborhood for Peterson AFB real estate, the drive will be 20-25 minutes to base. The Summerfield real estate area has easy access to I-25. Driving Briargate Parkway to the west takes you to the interstate in approximately 10 minutes which makes a convenient commute to the city of Denver or Pueblo or neighboring communities. Recreation The Summerfield neighborhood has one City Park and one Community Park located in the subdivision. The Lulu Pollard Park is a City Park and is 3.3 acres in area. The park offers a soccer field, rock climbing wall, picnic tables, picnic shelter and playground. There are trails/sidewalk paths in the park and it is handicapped accessible. The John Venezia Community Park is also located in the subdivision. The park began development in 2007. The endangered Preble's meadow jumping mouse's habitat will be left in the park. The habitat will be approximately 80 acres. The other 30 acres of the park with be a pasture where people can walk and will have a playground, spray ground and picnic shelter. The park will have four soccer fields, two basketball courts, two in-line hockey courts and four tennis courts. The plan includes lighted tennis courts. The Briargate Promenade Shops located to the west offer shopping and restaurants. The shops are a 5 minute drive from the Summerfield subdivision. Close to the shops is the Chapel Hills Mall for yet more shopping! North Academy Boulevard is a 10 minute commute to the southwest and offers endless shopping and restaurants. A 24 Hour Fitness club is located on North Academy Boulevard not far from Chapel Hills Mall. The club opened in 2008. There is also shopping on the east side of Summerfield. A large Albertsons grocery store and small mall is located to the east of the subdivision. The Briargate YMCA is located on the east border of the subdivision. A huge skatepark is located near the YMCA. |
