![]() Palmer Park Bordering Palmer Regional Park in El Paso County, Colorado is the Palmer Park Subdivision. This East Colorado Springs real estate area was established in 1959-1972. A majority of the homes in the Palmer Park Subdivision were built in the 1960s with some that were built in the 1970s. Commuting The Palmer Park Subdivision is within driving distance to three military bases. Peterson Air Force Base real estate is an approximate 13 minute drive or 6.32 miles, the United States Air Force Academy real estate area is an approximate 15 minute drive or 8.77 miles, and the Fort Carson real estate area is an approximate 19 minute drive or 11.07 miles from the Palmer Park Subdivision. Academy Boulevard, a main north/south road traveling throughout Colorado Springs borders the Subdivision to the east and provides easy access to restaurants, entertainment, and shopping venues. Recreation Three beautiful parks are located in the Palmer Park Subdivision; two city parks and one regional park. The Wasson City Park is a 12.7 acre park adjacent to Wasson High School. The Park has a baseball/softball field, two multi-play courts, a football/soccer field, a playground, and a sledding area. The Audubon City Park is 3.0 acres in area and has a picnic area, soccer, and trail and/or sidewalk path. The magnificent Palmer Regional Park is a 730.7 acre park. It's a great place to go for a hike, bike ride, or a walk. Take your dog to one of the two dog parks (one for small dogs and one for large dogs) seven days a week. The Park also has two baseball/softball fields, a community playground, a football/soccer field, horse stables, picnic area, three volleyball courts and over 25 miles of trails (hiking, jogging, equestrian). Access to the Park is free. Palmer Park also has large group picnic areas available by reservation only: Lazyland Meadows, Youth Camp and Council Grounds. The city trails in Palmer Park include: The Palmer Park Trail, the Greencrest Trail, and the Homestead Trail. The Palmer Park Trail is 25.65 miles long with a natural surface, the Greencrest Trail is 2.6 miles long with a gravel surface, and the Homestead Trail is 8.2 miles long with concrete, millings, gravel and natural surfaces. The Colorado Springs Country Club borders the Palmer Park real estate area to the west. The Club was established in 1954. It was originally the McKnight Dairy Farm. The dairy barn is still a part of the clubhouse today. The Country Club has an 18-hole golf course, an outdoor swimming pool complex, four outdoor tennis courts, and a renovated clubhouse. The golfing practice facility has a driving range, practice bunker, a chipping green, and a 5,000 square foot putting area. |
