The Gables
The Gables neighborhood is a unique and spacious area east of the Colorado Springs real estate area in Peyton, Colorado. The Gables is located in the Falcon real estate area in the Highlands subdivision, which is west of Woodmen Road. Each home for sale is architecturally unique. The homes for sale in the Gables real estate area are newer homes built in the mid 2000s with new construction continuing into 2008. Although some may consider Peyton a rustic area since it previously was a ranching community, it is expanding every year to include a large department store, a huge grocery store, and restaurants. The homes in this real estate area are stylish and classy. Although the houses are spread out, The Gables still has a sense of community. Some of the homes sit on 1/4 acre lots and back to open space areas. There are also homes for sale with larger lots, 1/2 acre in size. A neighborhood park sits on the north side of the neighborhood. Several of the builders have installed extras such as granite countertops and hardwood floors in the newly constructed homes.

Houses in The Gables area are close to amenities in the town of Peyton; specifically, shopping and restaurants. The minimum home size for sale is 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, and a 2 car garage. The average sales price in 2008 is $314,902 and is 3,083 finished square feet. The average size home for sale is a 3 bedroom, 3 baths, 3 car garage. The maximum sales price is $400,000 and is 5,305 finished square feet. The maximum size home for sale is 5 bedrooms, 6 baths, and a 4 car garage. Schools The schools of attendance are Falcon Elementary School, Falcon Middle School, and Falcon High School. Falcon High School offers a career academic program where students are allowed to pursue their interests in designated fields. This program is designed to help better prepare students for the future upon completion of high school. Neighboring Communities Neighboring communities include Woodmen Hills and Falcon Hills to the east across Woodmen Road. Woodmen Hills is a great location for commuting as it is located close to Highway 24 and Woodmen Road. Highway 24 goes to Colorado Springs to the west and to Calhan to the east. The real estate in this area offers smaller houses and lots compared to the surrounding real areas. Falcon Hills is further north than the Woodmen Hills subdivision but is still a reasonable commuting distance to Colorado Springs which is located to the west. The real estate in Falcon Hills offers larger lots and homes and a more ranch-style way of living. Commuting There are several homes for sale near Peterson AFB and homes near Schriever AFB. The Gables community is an approximate 17 minute, or 10.99 mile commute to Peterson Air Force Base and an approximate 17 minute, or 11 mile commute to Schriever Air Force Base. And because of the easy drive, the Gables homes are a good choice for a Colorado Springs military relocation. It is an approximately 25 minute commute to Colorado Springs going west on Highway 24. Recreation The eastern plains area offers many different types of recreational activities. Hiking is available at the Homestead Ranch Regional Park area to the east of Peyton. The Homestead Ranch Regional Park is an approximate 32 minute drive, or 25 miles from Falcon. Many different types of wildlife can be seen in this region such as: Deer, coyotes, waterfowl, and some pronghorns. The ranch contains a landmark, Rattlesnake Butte, which offers beautiful mountain views. Also to the east of Peyton is the town of Calhan. Calhan is the sight of the annual El Paso County Fair. It is an approximate 19 minute drive, or 15.5 miles from The Gables. Also close to Calhan is Paint Mines Regional Park. The park is a geological wonder with its dated clay deposits, as well as a historical site for the Indians that inhabited these eastern plains. Ramah Reservoir is also east of Falcon. The Reservoir is close to Calhan. At the reservoir is fishing and hunting for dove and turkey in the fall. There is no shortage of golf courses in and around Falcon. The Antlers Creek Golf Course is located approximately 10 minutes to the east from the Gables. The course is the longest golf course in Colorado and the second longest in the United States. There are also several golf courses located to the west of Peyton on the eastern border of Colorado Springs. Also located on the eastern outskirts of Colorado Springs is the Powers Corridor which has shopping, restaurants, entertainment, and professional baseball. |
