Located less than 1 mile from Peterson AFB, the Cimarron Hills Subdivision is 6.10 square miles in area. Houses are mostly single-family homes and townhomes. When driving through this Colorado Springs real estate area the homes are not "uniformly built." With the exception of Jessica Heights at Feathergrass, the homes are older, more established homes in this part of the Powers real estate area, with the surroundings varying as much as the architecture of the homes. The older part of Cimarron Hills has homes that were built in the late 1960s. Most of the homes were built in the 1970s.

Neighboring Communities
Jessica Heights at Feathergrass is a new housing community within Cimarron Hills, and is located west of Marksheffel Road. There are several builders offering new homes starting from the mid 200's.

To the West of Cimarron Hills is a spectacular view of the Rocky Mountains and Colorado Springs. Less than a mile from the Powers Corridor, there is plenty of shopping, entertainment and dining available. The shopping includes major department stores, retail shops, a huge movie theater complex, and a multitude of different types of restaurants. You can find just about any kind of food within a 10 minute drive. The Powers Corridor is an important thoroughfare that connects the south end of Colorado Springs to the north end. The Colorado Springs Airport is about 4 miles from Cimarron Hills, or a ten minute drive.

To the East of Cimarron Hills is the Claremont Ranch real estate community. Traveling east on Highway 24 you will cross wide open spaces. Horses and cattle are plentiful and you will travel to the small communities of Calhan and Peyton located in El Paso County, Colorado. Calhan is the site of the annual El Paso County Fair.

Commuting
Cimarron Hills is a community choice for Colorado Springs military relocation, because of its close proximity to the bases. It's approximately 5 minutes to Peterson AFB and 15 minutes to Schriever AFB. The cost of homes is substantially lower than the rest of the City of Colorado Springs, which makes it a consideration for first time homebuyers looking the Peterson AFB real estate and Schriever AFB real estate areas. Neighboring communities include Springs Ranch real estate to the North and Claremont Ranch to the East. The airport is an approximate 7 mile commute or a 10 minute drive.

Recreation
The Cimarron Hills subdivision is self-sufficient, and is a community within itself. If you enjoy golf, Cimarron Hills is in close proximity to the Cherokee Ridge Golf Course, World Golf & Sand Creek Golf, and the Springs Ranch golf course. The Cherokee Ridge Golf Course is located in Cimarron Hills and measures 6426 yards from the back tees and 5938 yards from the forward. It is a 9-hole golf course the entire family can enjoy. The club has outstanding views and a clubhouse which offers a full service golf shop and restaurant. World Golf & Sand Creek Golf is a public 9-hole golf course also located in Cimarron Hills. Its driving range has 40 tee stations. World Golf & Sand Creek Golf has been open since September 1978. It is also a ten minute drive to the Sky Sox Stadium.

There are numerous hiking, walking, and bicycle trails in the area if you and your family like outdoor activities. In addition, two parks were deeded by El Paso County to the Cherokee Metropolitan District in 1992, the Eastridge Park and Westridge Park in Cimarron Hills. New playground equipment was purchased and installed at Eastridge Park in 2002 from lottery funds which is the primary source of revenue for these parks.
