 Chipita Park The Chipita Park community in western El Paso County is surrounded by groves of aspen trees, scrub oak and pine trees. The City of Cripple Creek and The Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument are west of Chipita Park. Gold was discovered in Cripple Creek in 1891 and transformed the city into a gold camp. Many recreational activities are available in Cripple Creek. You can visit the Mollie Kathleen mine, go horseback riding, mountain biking tours, or visit the city's many museums.
