 Old Colorado City Old Colorado City is located in El Paso County, Colorado in the west Colorado Springs real estate area. In the mid 1800s Colorado City was a key point for sending mining supplies to South Park. In the late 1800s the Golden Cycle Mill processed much of the gold ore discovered in Cripple Creek, Colorado. Most of the homes for sale in this part of the West Colorado Springs real estate area date back to the late 1800s and early 1900s although there are several subdivisions with new homes, townhomes, and condominiums. Most of the homes have Victorian architecture and some are turn-of-the-century cozy bungalows. Old Colorado City has historical buildings reminding us of the gold mining days and retains its Old West personification in the historical district. Colorado City became part of the City of Colorado Springs in 1917. Old Colorado City used to be referred to as Colorado City and has many neighborhoods including: Colorado City established in 1873-1983, Parrishs in 1874-2007, West Colorado Springs 1885-1952, East Colorado City in 1887, Cahns in 1887-1891, Drakes Add 1888-1898, Owen & Swifts in 1889, Strubels 1891, La Vergne in 1895, Finleys in 1896-1901, Rustic Homes in 1901-1902, and Botts in 1902. Newer additions to Old Colorado City include: Lambrecht established in 1979-2005, Eklunds in 1998, and Baughman in 1970-1993.

Neighboring Communities Located to the north of the Old Colorado City real estate area are the Indian Heights and Pleasant Valley Subdivisions. West is the City of Manitou Springs. The Downtown real estate area of Colorado Springs is to the east of the Old Colorado City community and Bear Creek Regional Park is situated to the south. Commuting Commuting to the Fort Carson real estate area is an estimated 15 minutes or 9.41 miles. Cheyenne Mountain Air Base is an approximate 25 minute drive. With Interstate 25 bordering Old Colorado City to the east, The United States Air Force Academy real estate area is a short estimated 23 minute commute or 16.18 miles. Recreation The Old Colorado City Historical Society is located at One South 24th Street and has tours available. You can see re-enactments, displays, and see restored shops from the Old West days. Old Colorado City has four city parks in the community. Thorndale City Park is a 4.8 acre park. The park has a baseball/softball field, a multi-play court, two horseshoe courts, a picnic area, a large group picnic area with shelter, a playground, a sidewalk path, and two tennis courts. Vermijo City Park is 4.5 acres in area. The Park has a baseball field, basketball court, a playground, and sidewalk paths. The Bott City Park is a 3.9 acre park and has a basketball court, multi-play court, a playground, a picnic area with shelter, and two tennis courts. The Bristol City Park is 3.2 acre park with picnic facilities available. |
